October’s Birthstone – Opal

About Opals:

If your birthday is in October, you probably already know that your birthstone is the beautiful Opal. The ancient Greek’s loved opals and believed that it protected them from sickness and the Romans believed they were a symbol of hope and one of the luckiest gemstones.

Today Opals are still hugely popular and a favourite among our Brisbane clients. We receive many requests for custom makes featuring Opals. The most popular being bespoke rings and pendants. No piece of Opal is exactly the same, so you know that you are getting something special with these stunning gemstones. With a unique spectrum of colour, these gems look beautiful with Rose, Yellow or White gold and can be a stunning centrepiece or enhanced with beautiful diamond details.

How to care for your Opal:

Opals are a very soft stone and it’s important you take care of it to avoid scratches or breakages. We recommend removing your opal pieces before cleaning, gym, gardening or heavy lifting. We always advise our clients to bring their jewellery to the studio every 6 months to be checked over and professionally cleaned by our award winning jewellers.
